My name is Mark Hinkle and I am technology addict. I am active in the open source community and am involved in the Zenoss Core and NetDirector projects.
I also was a co-founder of the Linux Desktop Consortium and the Open Management Consortium.
I have published hundreds of articles on open source and a book on moving from Windows to Linux. Though in 2007 I sold out and move to Mac OS X as my primary desktop.
I am a total technology junkie, I bought the iPhone on day one, I build my own DVR, and I am totally addicted gizmos.
For my day job I am the Community Manager for Zenoss Inc. at night I blog at SocializedSoftware.com.

From the page: "Customer and partner needs are constantly changing, and companies need to innovate faster than ever. But how do you get customers to contribute feedback? More importantly, with hundreds, thousands, and potentially millions of conversations, how do you filter through the noise to find meaningful suggestions without getting bogged down in an expensive and time-consuming evaluation process? IdeaSpigit is the social productivity software solution for companies looking to capitalize on feedback outside of their organization from customers and partners. Ideaspigit combines a traditional, highly intuitive user experience with Spigitâ€s advanced algorithms for automated idea graduation and ranking, user reputation, and currency management, to help decision-makers quickly and effectively filter. From the site:"Companies saw their stock price rise if they met one crucial condition: explaining how they expected their open strategy to bring in short-term revenue. Companies that clearly communicated a short-term revenue model saw an average stock-price increase of 1.6%. Companies that didn't saw an average decline of 1.6%."

From the page: "I tend to agree with that statement. Yet the word "meritocracies" even with the given Rand overtones leads us to believe people are paid fairly for the work they do. That just sounds right, doesn't it? Pay people fairly for the work they do. ?"
